How to Dress Classy in Colder Weather

How to Dress Classy in Colder Weather

If you are living in New England, you know firsthand how chilly it can get during the colder weather. During the freezing winter season, it can be difficult to find the motivation to pull together a cute and stylish outfit, especially when all you want to do is bundle up in a blanket and stay on your couch!

While your first priority should always be to dress for comfort and to protect yourself from the colder weather to avoid getting sick, that does not mean that you cannot have some fun with your style in the winter and pull together some cute colder weather outfits. How to Dress Classy

So, how can you look your best while still staying warm? Check out some tips on how you can dress classy and trendy during the colder weather.

1 – Layer it up.

When it comes to layering, make sure that you are not choosing several bulky items – find pieces that you can discretely wear underneath something such as a sweatshirt or sweater, so you can stay warm while still looking good.

Over your sweatshirt or sweater, consider a puffer jacket or even a vest if your second layer is thick enough to protect you from the cold.

2 – Wear tight clothing.

Wearing tight clothing will help to prevent wind chill and will also help to show off your figure if you are opting to go with an oversized sweater or sweatshirt.

If you are planning on wearing a dress or skirt when going out, consider wearing tights that are lined in fleece so that your legs are warm and protected from the cold.

3- Switch it up between long and short coats.

How to Dress Classy with Different Length CoatsThere are so many different coats to choose from, so when building your outerwear wardrobe, make sure that you are choosing several different styles that can be worn in various different ways. While a statement coat is always fun to purchase, it may not be as practical as a more neutral coat that will match more outfits and that you will not need to replace when and if trends change the next season.

Incorporate some cropped puffers into your wardrobe, and also make sure that you have some longer coat options that will keep your entire torso covered and will also very quickly dress up an outfit. It is always smart to size up in your coats so that you are leaving enough room for a sweater or sweatshirt underneath the coat, especially if you are planning on being outside for a longer duration of time.

4 – Add in winter accessories.

Find some cute and trendy scarves, mittens, and hats that will elevate your style.

If you are wearing the same coat, or alternating between the same coats, throughout the week, your winter accessories will switch things up for you.

If you have neutral outerwear, you can also add in some pops of color through your accessories.

5 – Invest in a good pair of boots.

Make sure that you are choosing a pair of boots that have tread, as any falls on the ice can cause major injury!

Additionally, consider investing in some quality wool socks that will keep your feet even warmer.
